The Old Shaving Cream Pie Is In Hockey Too?!

DC Sports Nexus ---- Friday, November 4, 2011

The shaving cream pie is something that has been around as far as I can remember. It is usually a hazing thing for a rookie after they do something good in a game. However, if you watch the Nats you see this bit happen almost every time the team wins, essentially running the bit into the ground. Even when the team's record is bad they love to get someone with a pie to the face after a win that keeps them below .500.

As far as I knew I thought it was a baseball specific thing. I don't recall seeing it in the NFL or NBA. However I saw it for the first time in hockey tonight. Ovi Oh gave the rookie Clay Eakin a pie to the face after the kid's first point, assist, goal, and first star.

Maybe I should start watching the post-game. Didn't see it.

His name's Cody, though.

Wasn't thinking they'd be keeping him up for long; starting to wonder, now.

He's making a joke about Clay Aiken because Cody Eakin is a similar name.
