Renew Your Expensive Tickets To The Sinking Ship Now!!!

DC Sports Nexus ---- Monday, March 5, 2012

Going on to the Caps website today, I was directly taken to the splash screen telling me I can buy single game tickets, which I didn't know were available.  After clicking 100 places and constantly taken to the Ticketmaster site, I finally made it to the real Caps site.

On the real site out of nowhere Karl Alzner pops up, not smiling, and talking in a monotone voice.  He tells me I should renew my season tickets by march 15th.  He doesn't mention that the ticket prices have been raised.  He doesn't mention that the team is falling apart and buying tickets does not guarantee any playoff games.  He doesn't mention that the resale value of tickets to a non-playoff team will end up being below face value.

Anyways, while the Sabres look to knock the Caps down to 10th place tonight, and while the Lightning and Leafs get set up to knock them down to 13th place, and even while Bruce Boudranahiem looks to go to only 1 point back of the Caps, you should also be sure to renew your season tickets.  Just don't be surprised that Ted sticks with the "we have Alex Ovechkin" business model and makes no moves in the offseason...

Ted doesn't make the moves. If you've read his blog recently, you know that he is just as pissed about the Caps inconsistent play as the fans. The ticket hike was planned far in advance. While I fully expect people to not renew, this will do nothing about what happens this offseason. GMGM will be gone, a few key cogs will leave for greener pastures, and the Caps will HAVE to make some moves.

key cogs? Semin & Green! I don't want those moves! Also I know Ted leaves the hockey operations to the GM, but he still get's blamed because he is the boss. And him writing a blog pretending he is just an upset fan is annoying. He has millions of dollars more than us fans, and he is not one of us. If I don't like something I write a stupid unthoughtout rant here for 20 people to read. If he doesn't like something he can actually do something about it.

Green is a key cog, and there is also a chance that Wideman will be gone also. And Carlson, while he has had a down year, is also up for RFA. It is possible we would lose him also.

At least Ted is open and honest with the fans. But there is not but so much he can do for the team during the season. He will be firing the GM at the end of the season though, at which time there will be some changes made, including possibly another new coach.

This is pathetic... Your team has one bad season and you're telling people to stop buying tickets? Honestly if you want to see any moves in the offseason low ticket sales aren't going to help. Would you rather sign like the Redskins do and waste VALUABLE prospects/picks/players. Do you even know what an inside edge is? or what the caps jereseys were before this? Ted is a horrible owner? No, Snyder is a horrible owner. We got spoiled with high seeds and now that our division is extremely competitive we are in a close playoff race. When the Nationals lose a close race to their NL foes is 'Take Back the Park' over for you? Mistakes happen and when they do like Bruce, (your word splicing even sucks), it doesn't mean you have to jumP ship like a coward. I just don't understand how you want to drop a highly talented, but struggling (by which I mean not being 1-3 in the East) that has depth in their farm system. Lastly, the fact that you place no blame on the players when they obviously are a huge part of this is silly. There are absolutely going to moves... Look at how many contracts are up at the end of this season. Stick to basketball.

I think the dude above me might be Ted...

I didn't tell anyone to stop buying tickets. I didn't jump ship. The owner of the team raised ticket prices and I wrote some facts and some sarcastic questions that push people to that conclusion to make a point to get people thinking. Next time I'll write some stuff about how the Caps are the best team in the world. Also please tell your dad/brother/uncle Ted that I don't really hate him.
