I was trying to figure out how much time was left when the Islanders scored the game winning goal. However the combination of the NHL box score being annoying and mimicking soccer, along with my inability to do math, plus the fact that I can't figure out how to do time calculations in Excel made it impossible to figure out. 18:14. How is that helpful. Seriously. I think that is 1:46? I'm going with that...
Looking at the score doesn't really tell the story as the game was tied with under 2 minutes left. The Islanders ended up getting the game winning goal and then putting it in an empty net for the dagger.
Game notes & questions:
- How many times a game does the announcer say squeeze? He doesn't just say the word, but he makes it sound squeezy.
- I still can't figure out which announcer is which.
- There shouldn't be a rebound on a non-deflected blue line shot right?
- Does anyone else find it annoying when the announcer does the telestrator and he says Hold it here and the video doesn't stop so he says it again. Hold It Here. Hold It Here. Has he ever said only one?
- When are the TV timeouts?

That's Craig Laughlin AKA Locker who does the telestration. He'll repeat "Hold it there, hold it there" several times as he takes the audience through the plays. I assume because someone else is working the video playback and doesn't stop the shot when/where Locker wants them to...
You can always tell Locker apart from Joe Beninati due to Locker's Canadian accent as well as his colloquial descriptions of the plays.
I think the Locker jinxed us last night with his prediction of a win for the Caps before the game ever started...
TV timeouts are under-14, under-10, and under-6. (Seems weird that they're not evenly spaced, but it's set that way to give more continuous play at the beginning and end of each period.)
The rules for when it's okay to start the timeout are a bit complex. A stop for icing is not allowed, as it would give the defense extra rest. Likewise with a puck out of play in the middle of a power play. Most other stoppages will trigger the TV timeout.
