Nexus Connections: Slapshot Dances And Gangnams At Nats Game

DC Sports Nexus ---- Wednesday, April 17, 2013

Sometimes the different DC Sports teams all come together to provide worthy (or non-worthy) fun and excitement.  Instead of just posting it a zillion times, this segment will just link you over to the main story.

You just saw Slapshot help deliver the flying clothesline to Teddy of the Nats.  Now watch as an inflatable version of the Caps eagle dances to Drake, Pitbull, and of course, as all mascot bits end, to Gangnam Style.  Do we really have to keep ending our mascot bits with that?

Greatest Website Ever Lets You Know When Papa John's Is Half Off

DC Sports Nexus ---- Friday, April 12, 2013

Who doesn't like half price pizza?  Give up? The answer is nobody.

Some people may not be the biggest Papa John's fans, myself being one of them, but on a Friday afternoon when I can order a bacon/mushroom/pepperoni pizza, buffalo wings, bread sticks, and cheese sticks for around $20, I don't really care.  And now there is a now a new website that will change your pizza eating life.

Wizards Jan Vesely Takes In A Caps Game

DC Sports Nexus ---- Monday, January 28, 2013

If you follow us on Twitter, and or have ever spoken to me in real life, you probably know that my favorite player on the Washington Wizards is Jan Vesely.  We turned him into the cartoon Jem (below), I screamed at him in Atlanta, we had him captured by an eagle, we turned him into Rick Rolling, and we raised money for charity in his honor.

On Sunday afternoon the Czech Cager went to Verizon Center to watch the Caps play the Buffalo Sabres and tweeted the above picture.  Maybe Jan is good luck because the Caps picked up their first win of the season while fellow Czech Michal Neuvirth picked up the W.

Jan gave a shout out to Czech compatriots Neuvy, Roman Hamrlick, and Tomas Kundratek on Twitter:

And here is Jan rolling some sushi in his Caps shirt because:

Let's get Jan at more games and pick up some more wins!

DC Athletes Supporting Each Other, Despite Nationalities

DC Sports Nexus ---- Monday, December 10, 2012

I know nothing about international hockey.  Well I really know nothing about hockey at all.  I just happened to randomly be in Prague of the Czech Republic when Jaromir Jagr and the Czech team upset Alexander Ovechkin and the Russian team at the 2010 World Championships.  At one point the entire town square was chanting "Russian Pigs!"  I got the impression that this was a bitter rivalry, possibly not just in hockey?

Czech vs Russia isn't really the point of this post.  The point is that we have players in the city supporting the players on teams of other sports in the city which is cool.  Bringing countries together to support Washington DC!  Here is Wizards forward  (Czech) Jan Vesely rocking an (Russian) Ovechkin Shirsey.  He is also making (Japanese) sushi...for some reason.

Yeah, NHL Lockout.  Time for pics of basketball players rolling sushi.  Fun times.

Nexus Now: Still A Lockout

DC Sports Nexus ---- Thursday, August 23, 2012

Our Caps coverage has been pretty weak lately.  Between my writers...not writing...and with lots of Nationals coverage happening we aren't doing as much as we should.  One of the reasons is that I am trying to pretend that there is no lockout happening.  In order to do that, I have to ignore all the news about it.

To tide you over, check out our 2nd episode of Nexus Now, and we promise more Caps stuff to come...eventually...

Nexus Now Episode 1

DC Sports Nexus ---- Monday, August 13, 2012

At the DC Sports Nexus, we created a show to add to our coverage of the DC Sports teams.  The show is called Nexus Now and will be a weekly or monthly show with lots of fun stuff.  Each time we do it we will try to add new stuff and actually turn on the HD switch on our cameras.

In the first (and possibly only) ever episode, we interview the famous Nationals Rally Kid, a huge 10 year old Nats fan who is traveling around the country trying to hit every Major League Stadium.  We talk about how he helped the Nats win, and we talk to his father about the famous Bob Carpenter Scorebook and the secret Carp doesn't want you to know.

I also talk about each of the 4 DC Sports teams, watch some dancing by umpires and Davey Johnson, and my favorite part, "Oh, Hello"!  Check it out!
