The Washington Capitals have been one of the best teams in the NHL over the past three seasons and Alex Ovechkin was the Superstar that was leading the way.  However, this season he has played well below his typical level, and a recent Washington Post article brings up more DC Sports mommy issues.

Alex's mom does not just give him some motherly advice, she takes control of the situation as she did when she negotiated Alex's last ginormous contract.  And if you saw the HBO 24/7 show last season, you see that he lives with his mother in Russia during the offseason.  Maybe mommy can help him score some goals before the Caps fall out of playoff contention.

Hockey At Halftime: Bad Rex vs Bad Sasha

This bit compares the first half of the Redskins games vs the entire most recent Caps game...I dunno....

The Skins finally have a score that is higher than the Caps. A whole 6 1st half points! The Caps have lost 3 out of 4 games, the Skins have lost 4 out of 4. The Skins have D'Angelo Hall who can't cover anyone, but the Caps have Alex Semin who commits a stupid penalty every game.

Grossman takes sacks and throws picks, gets benched, then comes back and gets sacked & throws picks. Alex Semin gets a bunch of offensive zone penalties, gets benched, and comes back the next game to get another one. So who do you hate more? Bad Rex or Bad Sasha? Pick one at the bottom.

Luckily for Redskins fans the Capitals are going to play every other day for a while. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday. That's pretty cool. Where's Andrew Luck At?

Another week, another terrible performance by the Washington Redskins. They scored 3 pts in 6 quarters and it appears the John Beck era could be over. Martin Brodeur must be in goal for the 49ers. (this was written when it was a shutout...)

I'm pretty sure that a football team should score more than a hockey team. Goals in hockey are 1 point, Touchdowns in football are 6 points! Two weeks ago the Caps had a touchdown, which if you are the Redskins is hard to get. Last week the Caps scored 4 and not only won the 1st half but the entire game as the Skins were shutout. But this week the Caps went soft, they only scored a field goal. And on the final play of the 1st half, the Skins tied the Caps on a team record 59 yard field goal.

Maybe Rex Grossman will come in for the 2nd half, but really what does it matter. He will just throw like 2 pick sixes...Next Caps game Tuesday. Only like 52 more hours til we can see a team that has skill and scores points.

The DC Sports Fan Venn Diagram

The time has come for me to upset everyone with Caps Basketball's interpretation of DC Sports fans. The following diagram took me about 3 hours to make, I had to redo it about 10 times and finally I got it to look "kind of" like I wanted it to look.

In theory it represents people who only like DC sports teams. Therefore it is somewhat of a representation of people's favorite sports. However I believe people like certain sports with a certain level of passion based on where they live. In this case DC. Like that Merry-Go-Round?

Basically you could substitute a Nats for an Orioles, but you couldn't shift this whole chart to Toronto. Well I'm not going to confuse you any longer. Just take a look at this confusing piece of art:



No I did not use any stats from this Washington Post DC Sports Fan Poll.

As you can see I think everyone loves the Redskins. Since the Nats were late to the party, most DC sports fans like them if they didn't already have a team. You can figure out the rest of the diagram on your own maybe.
